A faulty oven derails dinner, batch-cooking, and the weekend roast. We diagnose the fault on site, explain what’s involved, and quote the repair before any work begins. We also install and replace ovens; not just repair existing units.
What we repair
We work on built-in (wall) and freestanding ovens, electric and gas. Faults we see most often:
- Won’t heat. Failed element (bake, grill, fan), failed gas igniter, faulty thermostat, broken safety thermocouple.
- Heat is uneven. Fan motor fault, thermostat drift, door-seal leak. The tell-tale is one shelf browning while another stays pale.
- Trips the safety switch. An element leaking current to earth. The oven works until it warms up, then takes the circuit down.
- Door faults. Broken hinges, failed door latch, broken glass, failed door lock on pyrolytic models.
- Controls. Failed control board, sticky touch pads, failed clocks and timers. On many models the clock must work for the oven to heat at all.
- Error codes. Sensor faults, overheat trips, communication faults. The code narrows the search; the diagnosis confirms it.
Gas oven work — igniters, thermocouples, gas valves, burner adjustment — is regulated separately in NSW and handled by a licensed technician.
How a visit works
Call or send the form to book. The technician inspects the oven, names the fault, and gives you a quote for the repair before any work starts. You decide whether to proceed. Common parts ride on the van; if a part needs ordering, we book a return visit once it arrives.
If the fault is intermittent — an oven that only fails mid-roast, an error code that clears itself — note down when it happens and what the display showed. The more detail on the booking, the more likely the right part is on the van.
Repair or replace?
Elements, seals, hinges, igniters, and thermostats are economical repairs on almost any oven. The line moves when a control board fails on an older unit, or several faults arrive together. As a rough rule: if the repair quote runs above half the price of a comparable new unit, replacement is the better call, and we handle the replacement too, including removal of the old unit. We tell you straight which side of the line your oven sits on.
