A cooktop with one dead burner cripples the kitchen. Whether you call it a cooktop, a stove, or a hob, we trace the fault on the visit and price the repair before any tools come out. We also install and replace cooktops; not just repair existing units.

What we repair

We work on gas, electric (solid plate), ceramic, and induction cooktops. Faults we see most often:

  • Gas. Won’t ignite (electrode, ignition module), clicking that won’t stop after the burner lights, low or uneven flame (blocked port, valve), yellow or lazy flames, gas-valve faults.
  • Ceramic / electric. Element won’t heat, one zone dead while others work, control switch fault, cracked glass surface.
  • Induction. Coil fault, sensor fault, power-board fault, zones cutting out mid-cook, error code reading.
  • Controls. Failed touch panels that ignore your finger or ghost-touch on their own, sticky push-controls, intermittent operation.

On freestanding stoves we repair both halves: the cooktop surface and the oven below it.

How a visit works

Call or send the form to book. The technician inspects the cooktop, names the fault, and quotes the repair before any work starts. You decide whether to proceed. Ignition electrodes, modules, and common switches ride on the van; brand-specific coils and glass are ordered and fitted on a return visit.

Gas cooktop repairs — valves, injectors, burner adjustment — are licensed gas work in NSW and handled accordingly. A repaired burner is always leak-tested and flame-checked before we sign off.

Repair or replace?

Electrodes, switches, single elements, and ignition modules are economical repairs. Cracked induction glass or a failed power board on an older unit can approach half the price of a new cooktop. That is where replacement starts making more sense. We advise either way on the visit, and handle the replacement if that is the call, gas or electric.

Brands we work on

Miele, Bosch, Smeg, Westinghouse, Electrolux, Chef, Simpson, Blanco, Omega, Asko, Whirlpool, Fisher & Paykel. Call us if your brand isn’t listed.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Why is my induction cooktop showing an error code?
Induction error codes typically point to a sensor, a failed coil, or a power-board fault. The code itself is a diagnostic; we read it and trace the cause on the visit.
  • My gas burner clicks but won't light. What's wrong?
Most often a blocked burner port, a worn spark electrode, or a faulty ignition module. A clean and adjust solves a lot of these; some need a part.
  • Can the cracked glass on a ceramic cooktop be replaced?
Yes. We source the replacement glass and fit it. The repair is usually viable if the brand's replacement parts are still available.
  • One of my gas burners has a yellow, lazy flame. Is that a problem?
Yes. A healthy flame is clean blue. Yellow tipping means incomplete combustion — usually a blocked port, wrong injector, or aeration out of adjustment. It soots your cookware and wants correcting.
  • Do you repair stoves as well as cooktops?
Same appliance, different name. Sydney households say stove, cooktop, or hob — we repair all of them, gas and electric, and the oven underneath a freestanding stove as well.
  • Why does my induction cooktop cut out mid-cooking?
Commonly an over-temperature cutout from blocked cooling airflow under the unit, a failing fan, or a sensor fault. We check the airflow path as part of the diagnosis, not just the electronics.
